COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

In the Community Connections Program, new immigrants and volunteers participate in various activities together, including tours of community services such as libraries, recreation centres and health facilities, as well as gatherings and guest speaker presentations. Volunteering with NSMS is a great way to contribute to creating an inclusive community on the North Shore. Community Connections volunteers play an important role in welcoming newcomers to the community. The Mentoring Program connects skilled immigrants with professionals from a variety of fields including medical fields, engineering, IT and trades. Volunteer Employment Mentors assist immigrants to find out about their fields in Canada.

Volunteering in the Community
For newcomers, volunteering is a great way to get involved in the community and practice English. It’s also a good way to learn about useful local services and resources. New immigrants and refugees who wish to volunteer are encouraged to contact Volunteer North Shore at 604 985 7138. When you call, you can make an appointment to talk to a volunteer who can help you find meaningful volunteer opportunities.
